Police use tear gas as Morcha calls Punjab bandh

Chandigarh Police on 15 August used tear gas, water cannons and drone-dropped shells to stop Qaumi Insaaf Morcha protesters at the Mohali border. The march was aimed at Governor Gulab Chand Kataria's residence. The Morcha then called a Punjab bandh on 21 August for the release of Sikh prisoners. Leaders said they would continue a peaceful campaign.
