Graduate unemployment nears 40 percent among under 25s

A State of Working India 2026 report says India's unemployed graduates grew from under one million in 1983 to about 11 million in 2023, a 16 fold rise. Graduate unemployment among people below 25 is now near 40 percent, while graduates make up nearly two thirds of India's unemployed population, the Azim Premji University study found.

A 16-Fold Rise In Unemployed Graduates Since 1983
