Canada applies duties on 629 US tariff items

Canada's revised counter-tariff list covers 629 US classifications worth about C$27.6 billion in annual imports from September 8. Duties range from 15 percent to 50 percent after 254 seafood lines were cut from an 874-item draft. Fifty percent rates hit steel, clothing, smartphones and furniture. Twenty-five percent covers cheese and appliances. Goods already in transit when measures began are exempt.
