Census 2027 enumeration starts in snow-bound areas

Door-to-door population enumeration for Census 2027 began Tuesday in snow-bound areas of four states and Union territories. Enumerators are recording answers to 40 questions, including caste for the first time in independent India. Online self-enumeration closed on August 31 before the field drive. In the rest of the country, door-to-door enumeration is due in early 2027.
