Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor defeated BJP's Neeraj Kumar by more than 19,000 votes in the Bankipur assembly bypoll, ending the BJP's hold on the seat since 1995. The bypoll followed Nitin Nabin's resignation as BJP national president after his election to the Rajya Sabha. Kishor ruled out joining any alliance, saying his alliance is with Bihar's people.
