Delhi HC orders SOP for transgender arrest procedures

The Delhi High Court directed the Centre, Delhi Police and Delhi government to frame a Standard Operating Procedure for arrest, detention, search and imprisonment of transgender persons. Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia ordered an affidavit on the NHRC May 2026 advisory. Petitioner Taaran Chandna said the 2023 code lacks transgender arrest rules.
