First duty-free gold shipment leaves Calcutta under India-UK pact

A 22 kg gold jewellery consignment worth Rs 27 crore was sent to the UK from Calcutta airport on July 16, the first zero-duty shipment under the India-UK CETA that took effect the same day. Darjeeling tea, betel leaves and coffee were also exported. Six Calcutta exporters joined a nationwide USD 10 million jewellery shipment.
