Entebbe lead pilot recalls rescue fifty years on

Brigadier General Joshua Shani, lead pilot of Operation Entebbe, told NDTV on July 6, 2026, that every detail of the 1976 hostage rescue remains vivid fifty years later. Four C-130 aircraft flew 4,000 kilometres at low altitude to Entebbe Airport in Uganda. The raid freed 102 hostages after an Air France flight was hijacked by Palestinian and German terrorists.
