US suspends Cognizant PERM filings amid visa probe

The US Department of Labour Inspector General Anthony D'Esposito suspended permanent labour certification filings by Cognizant and Cloudera amid a visa fraud probe. PERM is the first step employers use to sponsor foreign workers for green cards. Cognizant, founded in Chennai in 1994, received approvals for 3,510 H-1B visa petitions as of June 30, down from 9,413 in 2020.
