On 23 August 2026, Renu Gupta said she offered water to relatives who had come to her Nihal Vihar home and was told they did not want it, shortly before her son Vinay Gupta was allegedly assaulted. She said two brothers of her daughter-in-law grabbed him. The 31-year-old Adobe engineer was later declared dead at hospital.
