Police book eight after Sinhagad Fort tourist assault

On 16 August 2026, Pune Rural police booked eight people after tourists from four groups were allegedly assaulted at Sinhagad Fort for wearing shorts and sleeveless clothes. The accused, including three women, are members of the Samast Hindu Bandhav Army. A Dhayari resident said he was slapped near the Tanaji Malusare memorial. Police said a search was under way.
