Mundhe says FDA action on Pune shop was correct

On 18 August 2026, Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said the action against Gurunanak Dairy and Sweets in Pune was correct. The Bombay High Court on 17 August ordered the FDA to pay Rs 5 lakh within 30 days and allowed the shop to reopen. Mundhe said consumers were hospitalised after food poisoning and a report marked the food unsafe.

- The shop's advocate told the court daily earnings were about Rs 25,000, and that 34 days after compliance the claimed loss was near Rs 8.5 lakh.
