Hindustan Times··1d ago
Seventeen-year-old Neel Tripathi is taking philosophical inquiry into BMC, public and aided-school classrooms across Mumbai. His student-led initiative Pehla Prashn has personally reached 400-plus students with sessions on dreams and colour. He has mentored 40-plus schoolteachers to continue the programme and manages dozens of student volunteers. Tripathi works with NGO Yuva Unstoppable, which the report says impacts over 10 million.

What It Means For You
- BMC and aided-school students can join non-competitive philosophy sessions that award no marks.
- Teachers mentored by Tripathi can continue the same classroom discussions after the founder visits.
- Parents see a curriculum built around dreams and colour rather than named philosophers or jargon.
What's Happening
- Pehla Prashn styles itself as big ideas for little ones and is expanding to more Mumbai schools.
- Yuva Unstoppable founder Amitabh Shah said the project can become a movement.
- Children have argued about dreams within dreams and whether colour is real because it differentiates objects.
How The Classroom Model Works
- Tripathi studies philosophy, history and literature and designed the two-session scheme himself.
- Responses include art that shows the same object appearing differently to different people.
- The programme is deliberately non-competitive, with no correct answers enforced.
