Hyderabad school sacks teacher over religious verse homework

A private school in Hyderabad terminated a teacher on July 16 after she assigned Islamic religious verses as homework to Grade-II students. DCP Khare Kiran Prabhakar said the teacher asked all 25 students to read Kalma though only one is Hindu. A student's family lodged a protest with the school and police. Over 30 protesters were taken into preventive custody.
