Jharkhand court stays cancellation of JPSC appointments

On 20 August 2026, the Jharkhand High Court stayed government notifications cancelling appointments made through the 11th and 13th Jharkhand Public Service Commission examinations and the recruitment of 56 food safety officers. Justice Deepak Roshan passed the interim order on petitions by Avdhesh Kumar, Saurabh Singh, Sonam Kumari and others. The state must reply by 15 September.

Why Cancellation And A Stay Are Running Together
- After a 25-day sit-in, the Cabinet on 18 August cancelled 22 exams, paused six, and ordered probes into older papers dating to 2014.
- Natural justice here means the people already appointed said they were not heard before their appointments were wiped out by notification.
- The stay is interim. A later finding of fraud against a named candidate can still end that appointment.
