Ritabrata faction names candidates for 6 October Bengal bypolls

The Ritabrata Banerjee-led TMC faction on Monday named Mohammad Eteshamul Haque for Nandigram and Safiuzzaman Sheikh for Rejinagar in October 6 Assembly byelections. Mamata Banerjee's camp picked Sanchita Pradhan for Nandigram and Rabiul Alam Chowdhury for Rejinagar on Sunday. The split follows the TMC's 2026 West Bengal Assembly election defeat. The Election Commission has heard rival claims to the party.
