Pakistan summons US diplomat over Kashmir remarks

On 19 August 2026, Pakistan summoned US Charge d'Affaires Natalie Baker after US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, on his first Srinagar visit, called Jammu and Kashmir an important part of India. Gor, who also serves as Special Envoy to South and Central Asia, spoke after a shikara ride on Dal Lake with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah present.
