What It Means For You

  • If you track sleep and recovery, Cirqa offers screenless monitoring without the subscription model Whoop uses.
  • Ten-day battery life and 80-plus activity modes suit users who prefer phone apps over wrist displays.
  • At USD 199.99, it sits between Google's USD 100 Fitbit Air and premium Whoop bands in the screenless category.

What's Happening

  • Garmin launched the Cirqa Smart Band on July 21, a USD 199.99 display-free tracker worn on wrist or arm.
  • It tracks heart rate, skin temperature, stress, sleep, women's health and Body Battery recovery scores around the clock.
  • Core features require no subscription, unlike Whoop, which popularised the screenless fitness band category over a decade ago.

The Bigger Question

  • Whoop is reportedly valued near USD 10 billion as it broadens beyond elite athletes to mainstream users.
  • Garmin Connect handles setup and activity modes, including LiveTrack location sharing and connected GPS via smartphone pairing.
