Modi flags India's first hydrogen train on Jind-Sonipat route

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India's first hydrogen-powered train on July 17 on the 89-km Jind-Sonipat section in Haryana on Northern Railway. The ten-car train uses 1200 kW fuel cells, seats 2600 passengers and reaches a maximum speed of 75 kmph. Germany, Japan, China and the United States also operate hydrogen trains. The pilot project includes dedicated refuelling facilities.
