Seven dead as Chamoli hydropower tunnel floods

Water and debris flooded an under-construction THDC tunnel at Mayapur, Pipalkoti, in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district around 6.45 pm on August 13. Of 22 workers inside, officials later said 19 were brought out and seven were declared dead at Gopeshwar hospital. Fourteen were injured. Three remained trapped on Friday as NDRF and SDRF teams used boats in standing water.

- Identified dead included Pradeep Singh Pawar, Mukesh, Durlabh Sharma, Vijay, Jitendra Kumar, Lokeshwar and Bhuneshwar, according to Friday hospital lists.
