Tamil Nadu dengue cases reach 16,334 so far this year

Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Public Health said dengue this year is neither unusual nor alarming. As of September 16, 2026, 16,334 persons were affected and nine deaths were reported. Official data for January to September showed 34,339 cases and 13 deaths in 2024, and 15,688 cases and 13 deaths in 2025. The directorate urged source reduction around homes.
