HC frees homemaker held 80 days under Gangsters Act

The Allahabad High Court on June 3 quashed a Gangsters Act case against Ghaziabad resident Rajendra Tyagi and his family, finding allegations stemmed from land and financial disputes. Justice Vinod Diwakar termed homemaker Lalita Tyagi's nearly 80-day detention patently illegal. The court said the case failed legal thresholds for invoking the stringent Uttar Pradesh anti-gangster statute.
