Vaishnaw cites 5 chip plants in commercial production

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said five semiconductor units in India are in commercial production. Speaking to PTI on September 19, 2026, he said youth-driven startups will build firms like Qualcomm and Intel from India. About $11-12 billion of investment interest has emerged under Semicon 2.0, valued at Rs 1,27,500 crore. Nearly 600 companies took part in SEMICON India.
