Badri calf born via IVF in Sahiwal cow

A healthy Badri female calf was born Friday after OPU-IVF transfer into a Sahiwal cow. Badri cattle are native to Uttarakhand, the agriculture ministry said. ICAR-NDRI Karnal and GB Pant University Pantnagar led the work with state funds. Oocytes came from elite Badri donors and semen from a superior Badri bull. Another recipient may calve within 5 to 7 days.

How The Calf Was Made

- Teams have also made cloned Badri embryos for later transfer into Sahiwal, crossbred and Badri cows.
