What's Happening
- Tan made the remarks on Monday at a panel organised by lender DBS.
- He described adoption of Chinese frontier AI models as “very fast” and named DeepSeek, Kimi and GLM as examples whose performance is “good enough”.
- Tan said software will play a role in driving the efficient use of some of the infrastructure that quantum computing will require.
Open Source And Efficiency
- Tan said, “I’m a strong believer of open source, that’s the best way to drive efficiency.”
- He linked efficiency to open source models and to software, and said markets will decide which models suit which use cases.
- The three models Tan named, DeepSeek, Kimi and GLM, were the examples he gave of Chinese models.
