US diesel hits record $5.85 a gallon, AAA says

The average US diesel price reached $5.85 a gallon, an all-time high, AAA said. That compares with $3.71 a year earlier and tops the prior peak after Russia's Ukraine invasion. Diesel mainly fuels trucks, trains, buses and other commercial vehicles. AAA put average petrol at $4.15 a gallon, against $3.20 a year ago. Washington state averaged $6.81 a gallon.
