BRICS summit opens in Delhi on September 12

The 18th BRICS heads-of-state summit will be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13 at Bharat Mandapam. India assumed the BRICS chair on January 1, 2026. Leaders expected include Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Masoud Pezeshkian. BRICS expanded to 11 members after Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Ethiopia joined in 2024 and Indonesia in 2025.

- Brazil will be represented by Foreign Affairs Minister Mauro Vieira. The UAE will be represented by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
- India previously chaired BRICS in 2012, 2016 and 2021.
