Odisha issues red rain warning for five districts

On 23 August 2026, the India Meteorological Department issued a red warning for Cuttack, Anugul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur after a low-pressure area formed over the northwestern Bay of Bengal. Heavy rain is expected in several districts till 26 August. Two places recorded more than 200 mm in the 24 hours to 8.30 am.
