Gauhati HC declares man foreigner despite 15 citizenship documents

Gauhati High Court on June 30, 2026, upheld a 2019 Foreigners Tribunal order declaring Assam resident Aminul Hoque a foreigner. Despite 15 documents including PAN card, voter ID, 1951 NRC extract and a 1973 land deed, the court ruled he failed to discharge the burden under Section 9 of the Foreigners Act.
