Former Union minister Sudarsana Nachiappan dies at 79

Senior Congress leader and former Union minister E.M. Sudarsana Nachiappan died in Sivaganga on September 17, 2026 after a brief illness. He was 79. He represented Sivaganga in the Lok Sabha from 1999 to 2004 and served in the Rajya Sabha from 2004 to 2016. He was minister of state for commerce from 2013 to 2014 under Manmohan Singh.
