French study profiles high antibiotic prescribers

A European Medical Journal abstract analysed antibiotic prescribing by 1,936 general practitioners in France's Centre-Val de Loire region during 2023 and 2024. Using the French National Health Data System, researchers found antibiotics were prescribed in 10.1 percent of 15 million consultations, covering 4 million patients and identifying one quarter of GPs as high prescribers.
