Austin ICE shooting follows 50,000 monthly arrest surge

An ICE officer shot and wounded a man in Austin on Sunday, Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said. The man was in serious but stable condition after one torso shot following a traffic stop. Austin police were not involved. Mayor Kirk Watson called for local police in the investigation. ICE reported more than 50,000 arrests monthly in July and August.
