BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma was appointed Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Saturday, Rashtrapati Bhavan said. He succeeds Admiral D K Joshi, who took charge on October 8, 2017. Sharma, 62, earlier served as deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. His Rajya Sabha term was due to end on November 25.
