Trichy and Thanjavur draw share of TN investment MoUs

Tamil Nadu's first Vettri investment conclave on August 13 placed food, paper and wind-tower work in Trichy and Thanjavur. Podaran Foods committed Rs 185 crore and TABP Snacks Rs 220 crore, together listed as 1525 direct jobs in Trichy. TNPL commissioned a Rs 350 crore tissue plant at Mondipatti. Thanjavur's Velmurugan unit added machinery for 5 MW towers.

Where the Conclave Put the Larger Cheques
- Kancheepuram led with 20 projects, then Chennai 14, Tiruvallur 13 and Thoothukudi 10. Six deals came from South Korea and four from Germany.
- Saint-Gobain, Daimler, Hinduja, Lucas TVS, Skyroot and Ultraviolette were among the named signatories.
- The TVK government took office in May. Officials said 56 of the conclave projects are greenfield and 25 are a company's first in the state.
