Cognizant named as US begins H-1B visa fraud probe

The United States Department of Labour has opened an investigation into alleged H-1B and PERM visa fraud, with inspector general Anthony D'Esposito saying whistleblower complaints referred to companies like Cognizant, Times of India reported. Dozens of subpoenas have already been issued in the probe. Cognizant's H-1B filings fell from 10,189 in 2018 to 3,436 in 2025.
