Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked with a kirpan on August 13 at Mata Sahib Gurdwara near Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded. He suffered a hand injury and was treated at Yasho Sai Hospital, where he was reported stable. Inspector Santosh Kendre of the Nanded Special Protection Unit was hurt while stopping the assault.
