Bengal withdraws Supreme Court plea on OBC reservation verdict

The West Bengal government on July 14 withdrew its Supreme Court special leave petition challenging a Calcutta High Court order that quashed inclusion of 77 communities, including 75 Muslim groups, in the state OBC list. The BJP-led cabinet decided not to pursue the Mamata-era challenge. The Backward Classes Commission also withdrew its separate appeal on the same day.
