Forest staff rescued a seven- to eight-month Royal Bengal tiger cub Friday from an empty Khaparkhai house in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, beside Similipal Tiger Reserve. The cub neared the village Thursday night and returned after heavy rain. Officials netted it around noon for Thakurmunda range office. Vets will treat it before a possible Jamuani rehabilitation enclosure shift.
