Twenty two bodies recovered from Sikkim tunnel disaster

Rescue teams recovered 22 bodies from the NHPC Teesta-VI Hydropower Project headrace tunnel in Sikkim's Namchi district after explosive release of suspected methane gas on July 20. District Magistrate Anupa Tamling confirmed the toll on July 23. Search operations continue for at least three remaining victims. NHPC announced Rs 5 lakh ex gratia to each deceased worker's next of kin.
