India tightens registration timeline for longer stays

India amended the Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025, requiring foreigners who want to stay beyond 180 days to register before their visa period expires. India Today reported that the change is meant to strengthen oversight of foreign nationals, while also updating responsibilities for hotels, universities, hospitals and other institutions dealing with foreign visitors across Indian checkpoints.
