Ancient microbes reflect Otzi's final world

The study links active gut bacteria to Otzi's last meal of wild meat, ancient grains and fern. Researchers identified rare species such as Romboutsia hominis and Clostridium moniliforme, described as absent from many modern urban microbiomes but still found in some isolated communities. The mummy now offers a living window into prehistoric human ecology today.
