Seven Chamoli tunnel workers dead, one missing

Seven workers died and one remained missing after water and debris entered a Tail Race Tunnel at Mayapur in Pipalkoti, Chamoli, around 7 pm on August 13. Fourteen of 22 workers on the 2 pm to 10 pm shift were rescued and taken to Gopeshwar hospital. The tunnel is part of THDC's Vishnugad-Pipalkoti project, built by Hindustan Construction Company.
