Ram Bachan Rai takes charge as Bihar Council chairman

Senior JD(U) leader Ram Bachan Rai on Monday took over as Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council after BJP leader Awadhesh Narain Singh resigned. Rai had been Deputy Chairperson since July 2024. The change follows NDA practice under which the Assembly Speaker stays with the BJP and the Council chair with JD(U). Prem Kumar of the BJP is Assembly Speaker.
