India approves first dengue vaccine

India approved its first dengue vaccine after the Drug Controller General of India granted market authorisation to QDENGA, developed by Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India. The live-attenuated tetravalent vaccine is approved for people aged 4 to 60 regardless of prior dengue infection. Takeda said the shot protects against all four dengue virus serotypes and needs no pre-vaccination screening.
