Justice Karol retires after Chachaji years at Court

On 22 August 2026, Justice Sanjay Karol demitted office after more than three and a half years on the Supreme Court and over 19 years as a constitutional court judge. Colleagues at the Bar called him Chachaji. He had earlier served as Chief Justice of the Tripura and Patna High Courts after his 2007 Himachal Pradesh High Court appointment.
