SC tells Centre to finish girls toilets in rural schools

The Supreme Court directed the Centre to ensure separate girls toilets in tribal and rural schools. The government said only 4,745 schools among about 1.4 million still lack segregated girls toilets. UDISE+ data for 2024-25 put functional girls toilets in 97.3 percent of 1.47 million schools. The bench listed the matter for September 29 and named Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar.
