Two Class 10 students held in principal murder case

On 19 August 2026, Nalgonda police detained two 16-year-old Class 10 students of Nagarjuna school in Kondamallepally in the killing of principal K Roopa Reddy. She was found dead at her house after 11 August. Superintendent of Police Sharat Chandra Pawar said she had said babu on a call with her aunt, a word she used for students.

How The Household Was Left Unwatched That Night
- The couple had been in Hyderabad for a short holiday. Rajender Reddy stayed back for work; Roopa Reddy returned on 10 August, attended school till about 6.30 pm, and did not report the next day.
- Their son Abhinav is an engineering student in Hyderabad. The husband asked a nearby police officer to check the house when calls went unanswered.
- Police said the juveniles had visited the area for a week and avoided leaving a digital trail before buying the knife on 11 August.
