IMD orange alert allows up to 204.4 mm rain

The India Meteorological Department on Monday issued an orange alert for six Kerala districts and a yellow alert for the remaining eight. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur face heavy to very heavy rain. IMD said rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm could occur over 24 hours. Five people died in Sunday's Nilambur flash flood.
