Gujarat High Court rules Hindu marriage needs customary rituals

The Gujarat High Court ruled on June 23 that registration alone cannot validate a Hindu marriage without customary rites such as saptapadi. The division bench quashed a family court order that refused to declare an alleged marriage void. UK-based appellant Kaushal Sonar said he never performed rites and his signature was obtained fraudulently.
