Gauhati High Court upholds talaq-e-hassan divorce

The Hindu··12 Sept

The Gauhati High Court held that talaq-e-hassan remains a valid Muslim divorce form. It directed Rakibul Bhuyan of Barpeta to register under Assam's 2024 compulsory registration law. He pronounced talaq on March 22, April 26 and May 27, 2026. The registrar must verify the divorce after identifying Bhuyan, the court said in a September 8 order.
